Relaxing West Coast
West coast compared with the east coast in the United States is very laid back and inspiring at the same time. Chill in the sunshine state on the beaches, hike thousands of trails in Oregon or enjoy the amazing landscapes in Washington. Check the photos below.
Start in Los Angeles
If flew straight from New Zealand (with a transfer in Sydney Australia) to Los Angeles. It feels weird because you go backwards in time. I left New Zealand around 06.00 in the morning and I arrived in Los Angeles on the same day around 09.00 in the morning. Los Angeles is so big and diverse I would take years to know the entire city. Just visited the main highlights like Hollywood boulevard, several museums and historic buildings in Los Angeles. How inspiring LA is for me my journey just started in the United States.
San Francisco, California
An 8 hour ride by Greyhound bus and I arrived in San Francisco. One of my favorite US cities. Inspiring on the hills, get in touch with a great art scene, talk with different creative people, saw amazing landmarks and spots like Alcatraz on the island in the SF bay and the famous icon of all the Golden State bridge.
Portland, Oregon
A nightbus through the night is not always that comfortable. But I manage myself to sleep a bit. When I woke up I arrived in Portland, Oregon. Oregon is so different it was much colder. But the environment is so full of green forests, lush hills and friendly people. It was raining those days but I enjoy the Portland very much to get in touch with the local art scene and saw different interesting exhibitions and art objects.
Seattle, Washington
Seattle is and always have been the rival city with Portland. Not only sports (I visited the Major League Football derby between Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers, one of the oldest derbies in North America). But also both states are rivaling each other. Seattle is much bigger, grotesque more ‘grandeur’. Located on the hills, laid back people with very enjoyable old town. Emerald city looks very nice especially in the morning and see the skyline in the sun when you take the ferry to Canada.
