Ride the amazing Thakhek motorbike loop
The Thakhek motorbike loop is over 450 km (depends on the route). I drove counter clockwise and it took met 3 days and 2 nights. A must-do if you visit (central) Laos. It goes through tiny villages, you meet the most friendly people, see spectacular landscapes, endless roads, you visit the Phu Hin Bun National Park and the amazing Kong Lor Cave, great hotels and an adventurous ride.
Thakhek – Thalang
The loop goes from Thakhek to Thalang on the first day you visit several caves and places to swim and visit small tiny villages with friendly local people.
Thalang – Konglor
This is the main highlight of the entire loop. You ride 150 km to Konglor deep in the Phu Hin Bun national park. The Konglor cave is big that big you can get even a tailboat and goes over the water for 2 hours (round trip). At the end of the day you can relax at the Riverside resort (one of the best resorts I’ve been too in Laos).
Konglor – Thakhek
The is for the most part very boring because the last 90 km is on a straight road (highway) back to Thakhek. Beware if you ride this do not go to fast the most accidents happen on this road.
